Cookie notice

Which cookies and similar technologies this site uses, who sets them, and how to change your choice.

The one-paragraph version

Manipedia itself sets no cookies. The only cookies on this site come from advertising, and they are only set after you agree in the consent dialog. Two small preferences (theme, dismissed language banner) live in your browser’s local storage and never leave your device.

What we store ourselves

Name Type Purpose Lifetime
manipedia-theme Local storage Remembers light or dark mode if you chose one Until you clear site data
manipedia-lang-banner Local storage Remembers that you closed the “also available in…” banner Until you clear site data

These are not cookies, are not sent to any server, and contain no personal data.

Ads are served by Google AdSense. Depending on your choice in the consent dialog, Google and its certified partners may set cookies such as __gads, __gpi, IDE or test_cookie, and use similar identifiers, to:

  • show ads and limit how often you see the same one,
  • measure whether an ad was seen or clicked,
  • if you consented to personalisation, pick ads based on your interests across sites.

If you decline, these cookies are not set. Google may still show limited, non-personalised ads based on the page content. Lifetimes range from a session to about 13 months; the full, current list with lifetimes is in the consent dialog under the vendor details. More: Google’s cookie information.

The dialog is provided by a Google-certified consent management platform and follows the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework, so your choice is passed to every ad partner on the page. Your decision is stored (by the platform, as a cookie or local storage entry) so you are not asked on every visit, typically for up to 13 months.

Changing your mind

Use Privacy settings in the footer of any page to reopen the dialog and change or withdraw your consent. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings; the dialog will then appear again.

Analytics

If analytics are enabled, we use a cookieless service (Plausible or Cloudflare Web Analytics). It sets no cookie and stores no identifier. Nothing to opt out of, because there is no profile.

More detail on data processing is in the privacy notice.
