Privacy notice
What data this site processes, why, on which legal basis, and your rights under the GDPR.
This notice explains what happens to your data when you visit Manipedia. The short version: the site itself collects as little as possible; the advertising it carries collects more, but only with your consent.
Who is responsible
The controller for this website is the operator of Manipedia, Budapest, Hungary. Contact: see the contact page. We are a small independent project and have not appointed a data protection officer.
What the site itself processes
Server logs. Our hosting provider records technical access data (IP address, time, requested page, browser type) for security and to keep the site running. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Logs are kept for a short period defined by the provider and are not combined with other data.
Preferences in your browser. The dark/light theme choice and whether you dismissed the “also available in…” banner are stored in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device and are not cookies. Legal basis: strictly necessary for a feature you chose.
Analytics. If enabled, we use cookieless, aggregate analytics (Plausible or Cloudflare Web Analytics). They set no cookies, store no personal identifiers and cannot follow you across sites. Legal basis: legitimate interest in knowing which pages are read.
Contact. If you e-mail us, we process what you send to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interest / your request. Messages are deleted when no longer needed.
Advertising (with your consent)
The site shows ads served by Google AdSense (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Ads can use cookies and similar identifiers to measure performance and, if you agree, to personalise what you see.
- Nothing loads before you decide. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland see a consent dialog from a Google-certified consent management platform. Ad cookies are set only if you accept. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, ePrivacy Directive).
- If you decline, Google may still serve limited, non-personalised ads based on the page you are reading, without cookies that identify you.
- Change your mind any time via Privacy settings in the footer.
- Details of how Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. The list of ad technology providers is shown in the consent dialog.
Google may transfer data outside the EEA; such transfers rely on the Data Privacy Framework between the EU and the US and/or standard contractual clauses.
What we do not do
No accounts, no newsletter yet, no social-media embeds that track you (we use screenshots and links instead), no fonts loaded from third-party servers, no sale of data.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, restriction of processing, portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest or withdraw consent at any time. Write to us via the contact page. You can also complain to your supervisory authority. In Hungary, this is the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH, naih.hu).
Children
The site is written for a general audience from the mid-teens up. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; ad personalisation is switched off for users Google identifies as under 18.
Changes
We will update this page when the site’s data processing changes and note the date above. This notice is general information, not legal advice.
